Symptoms & Home Care

SYMPTOMS

  • Fever

  • Chills

  • Cough

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle Aches

  • Headache

  • Loss of tase or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion

  • Runny nose

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Skin rashes

  • Shortness of breath

HOME CARE

  • Push fluids

  • Manage fever with ibuprofen or acetaminophen*

  • Get plenty of rest

COME IN IF

  • Your child has difficult breathing

  • Your child develops persistent pain or pressure in in the chest

  • Your child is unable to wake or stay awake

  • Your child has pale, gray, or blue colored skin

  • A medical assistant recommends you schedule a visit

COVID-19 TESTING

Testing

TESTING AT OUR OFFICE

At Pediatric Care of Ogden, we provide COVID-19 testing for symptomatic patients only.

See the subheading "Symptoms & Home Care" for a list of COVID-19 symptoms.

We offer testing during sick visits only. We do not offer drive-up testing at this time. 

ALTERNATIVE SITE TESTING

Because we are currently unable to provide COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic patients, we recommend that asymptomatic patients check testutah.com to find a testing center nearby.

ISOLATION & QUARANTINE

Isolation & Quarantine

ISOLATION

Isolation is meant to separate those who have tested positive for COVID-19 from people who do not have the virus.​

​

  • Monitor symptoms

  • Avoid contact between your sick child and other members of the household.

  • Try to keep your sick child in a separate room or bathroom from the rest of the household

  • Ensure your child wears a well-fitting mask if they cannot avoid being around other members of the household

QUARANTINE

​Quarantine is for those who are partially vaccinated or unvaccinated and have had a close exposure to someone with COVID-19.

​

  • The last date of exposure is day 0. Stay home and away from people from day 0 to day 5

  • Watch for symptoms to develop

  • If symptoms develop, test immediately

  • If symptoms do not develop, have your child tested at least 5 days after the last exposure

IF YOUR CHILD TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

ISOLATE - EVERYONE, REGARDLESS OF VACCINATION STATUS:

  • Stay home for 5 days

  • If your child has no symptoms or the symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave your house

  • Continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days

If your child has a fever, continue to stay home until the fever resolves. 

IF YOUR CHILD WAS EXPOSED TO COVID-19

QUARANTINE

IF YOUR CHILD:

Has been boosted

OR

Has completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in the last 6 months

OR

Has completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months

THEN

  • Wear a mask around others for 10 days

  • Test on day 5, if possible

  • If they develop symptoms, get a test and stay home until the results are in.

IF YOUR CHILD:

Completed the primary sereis of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 6 months ago and is not boosted

OR

Completed the primary series of J&J over 2 months ago and is not boosted

OR

Is unvaccinated

THEN

  • Stay home for 5 days. After that, continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days. 

  • If your child can't quarantine, they must wear a mask for 10 days. 

  • Test your child on day five, if possible.

If they develop symptoms, get a test and stay home.

"Pediatric Care of Ogden has always been supportive of vaccinations for children. We believe they are safe and effective. For information about the COVID vaccine for children, please visit the CDC website. You may contact your child's pediatrician if you have specific concerns."
